FURY OF LIGHT (2014)

for brass ensemble and percussion

More often than we would like, our hopes and expectations are not met. One’s reaction to disappointment is the true test. After a disappointing encounter, I decided to channel my feelings through music. This short work depicts my redemption at a truly frustrating moment in my life. The primary motif is an ascending three-note idea that permeates the work. This idea is eventually inverted before returning to its original form in the recapitulation.
