La Valse de la Vie (2012)

During my time at the University of Central Florida, a longtime trumpeter friend commissioned me to write him a new work for his junior recital. The work was intended to be for flugelhorn and piano and was to sound uplifting and hopeful. I decided that I wanted to compose a waltz that reflected the 'ups and downs' of our daily lives and thus, La Valse de la Vie was born (The Waltz of Life). 

 

Tragically on the day before his recital, Kyle's mother passed away after a longtime illness. This piece is dedicated in her memory.
