Three Ring (2013)

for brass ensemble and percussion

THREE RING is a fanfare for brass ensemble & percussion that depicts the opening overture to a circus. Dabbling in bi-tonality, this three minute piece for brass and percussion has a few short motifs that are expanded upon throughout the work. The most prominent however, is the three note idea first introduced by the trumpets in the opening measure. The second most featured motif is a chromatic idea first played by the trombones in measure 11. These motifs (and others) intertwine throughout the fanfare and strive to make this work an exciting opener to any concert.
